Details have emerged regarding a new Safari park which may get off the ground in Norfolk. One to follow, but there's no planning permission so this will be a long while off if it gets the go ahead. Interesting to see both great bustards and markhor get mentioned...

Giant new safari park could be created on Norfolk quarry site

Apologies if this has been posted, couldn't see anything about it!

    Should be Watlington not Warrington.

Nothing exciting regarding the species listed and will basically be an deer and hooves park with no carnivores.

If I was the bloke I would keep the £7m in my pocket.

If you think neither Markhor nor Great Bustard are particularly special, I have to wonder about you :p

    Don't be daft.

Whats wrong with hooves? Carnivores are for the shallow.

This guy already has a surprisingly diverse private collection. I would envisage something more along the lines of Port Lympne's drive-through rather than a traditional safari park.

I for one would welcome such a zoo.

"Rural Solutions believes the park “is not only unique to West Norfolk but is also the first of its kind in the United Kingdom”." - does this actually mean anything to UK members, or is it just the usual PR babble? I can't see from the article how it is "the first of its kind".

It definitely sounds like it would be good though.

I'm not with you, I can't see a reference to Warrington anywhere.

Any idea what he has? I can only find references to collections relating to the Pope rather than critters!

You had put Warrington in the thread title by mistake. It has been fixed.

AHHH, makes sense. Autocorrect must have had other ideas about where it thinks a new zoo should be.

Computers always have different ideas than humans. That's why AI is a bad idea.

Yes I do know what he has got but since it is a private collection I wouldn't want to provide any further details without consent. Sorry.

Reading between the lines, if they do indeed intend to be a "no carnivores" safari park this would indeed be something of a first......

Looks interesting. A stingray shaped visitors centre fronting onto a communal 'waterhole'..?
So..Zebra,Wildebeest,Flamingo's,Great Bustard are a tentative definate..?

And guessing from the usual stately home/mansion land owner with deer on their land,he's currently got Red and/or Fallow Deer..?

Watlington seems close to Kings Lynn,so hopefully easy or altered transport (bus) links?
