I've had a few cases where I've been attacked, but no major injuries. *My uromastyx nailed me with her tail when I cleaned her tank out after the light turned off. *My friend's Quaker parrot bit me and the beak hooked through my finger. Hurt like crazy. *Not attacked, but I did have some white-faced Capuchin monkeys throw berries at me in Costa Rica. One got me right in the forehead. *My friend's Russian tortoise bit me without drawing blood but it still hurt.
Any Australian member will know the wrath of the Australian Magpie and the wrath of the masked plover.
I can’t believe I forgot that. I was in grade 3 or 4 and I was a great dancer and there were girls watching and a plover swooped me and I did a step up dance ( you know when you throw your legs out and fall backwards with your legs beneath you ) and it never touched me
Been dive-bombed by Red-Winged Blackbirds, chased by an emu, scratched by a few dogs and cats, chased by an asian elephant, stolen from by a macaque, and attacked by a macaque. I also know a guy who was bitten by a wallaby as well as a guy who was stung by an Emperor Scorpion.
I've been bitten or otherwise attacked by quite a few different animals over my time. Some of the less serious ones include bites from the brown centipedes I get in my garden (causes localised finger swelling but nothing more), pet green anole (a firm pinch, uncomfortable but not necessarily painful), blue-tailed gliding lizard Holaspis laevis (pretty frenetic, sharp bites - if they were a foot long I'm convinced they'd be eating people) and domestic rat, hamster and wild bank vole (all drew blood but otherwise were fine). My two worst bites were both during my Year 10 work experience at Tropical Wings Zoo. On the first I had a white-bellied caique fly down from above while I was cleaning its aviary and bite me on the ear - imagine someone firing a nail gun into your earlobe, that's what I imagine the pain was equivalent to. On the second one, a white-cheeked turaco that was probably trying to get out through its aviary door that had been left open a crack while we cleaned it pitched itself right into the middle of my face. The net result of that was a bleeding cut near the corner of my eye and having to spend time in first aid making sure the injury wasn't too serious.
Th I was a social worker for many years, met all sorts of dogs in people's homes, and was only ever once seriously attacked, by a Miniature Yorkshire Terrier, which flew at me and bit me in the honeymoon equipment. Other than that, I've had to fend off cranes, pheasants, macaws and geese, with varying degrees of success. Been charged by a protective cow Buffalo who didn't like me near her calf, but fortunately she was tethered and couldn't get to me.
I wish I was chased by an Asian Elephant. Oh yeah, and on Tuesday, my leg got stabbed by a Guam Rail.
It happened when a bug suddenly flew onto my leg, I could feel the beak moving in my flesh. I was bleeding for a good 20 minutes. But only because my blood flow is very fast.
Sort of like a mosquito/vaccine/sword hybrid. It only hurts for the fraction of the second the fly is biting you, but it fells terrible.
A male Victoria crowned Pigeon at sylvan heights last month. The female was sitting on a nest and the pigeon would run at anyone who entered the aviary and smack its wings against their legs. Its funny with hindsight, but a hard situation as you need to escape but don’t want to injure the bird. So i kinda just stoof their for a while, then he wen’t after someone else.
I'm anticipating deer fly bites this weekend when I go fishing. They always seem to gather around my ankles.
