Hi all, it seems like ages since I've had the time to pop in and catch up on things. Last month I went to MZ, the first time in close to a year and I noticed that the jaguar wasn't there any more. I was hoping someone here could tell me what happened?

I'm in the process of working on a major oil of the jaguar and was hoping to get more reference photos...

Here's the painting I've been working on featuring the old jaguar from Melbourne Zoo. I'd love to hear people's thoughts as many of you would remember passing by the exhibit over the years. I've called it Jungle Spirit.

Next my son has informed me I need to paint a cheetah. He has a thing for big cats.

That's a beautiful painting, wildatart. Have you painted other wildlife?

Thanks. Yes, I've done heaps of animals from Melbourne Zoo and also worked with people like Jane Goodall in the past. There's a selection to see on my website.

Excellent. I recognise orangutan, elephant and pelican scenes that come from Melbourne Zoo! Possibly the giraffe, gorilla, lion and meerkat paintings too?

I love "The eyes have it" and "In his father's footsteps".

oh I love it, their pastel. You should so upload your wildlife art into the zoochat gallery, that is if you want to.

    I will do that shortly.

Most of the animals are from Melbourne Zoo. I had a solo show there during the 2008 twilight concerts and used to work with Zoos Victoria on fundraising through my art.

6 years later, and getting back to what happened to the jaguars at Melbourne Zoo...

I'm aware their last jaguar was a melanistic female named Maya. Was this the same Maya that was born 1987 at the Taronga Zoo?

They had a male jaguar as well within the last 15 years. Anyone know any details about him? Name? DOB? Etc.

Did the pair ever breed during their time at Melbourne?

Another cat species lost from Melbourne
