Curious to hear if there is something in particular about zoos that intrigue you and keep the obsession going? For me it has to be the challenge of zoo architecture, how to exhibit an individual animal or a mixed species exhibit that? 1/ Stimulates the animal into activity (not stereotyped behaviour). 2/Allows the public reasonable opportunities for viewing. 3/ Has an abundance of varied enrichment both natural and man made. ( I know back to point 1 but thought I would separate as not necessarily the same ) 4/ Looks naturalistic and has barriers that are not obvious. 5/ And of course Gorillas Every time I go to a zoo these a the primary things I am looking at. Do you also have a specific area?
I am a hoofstock person. I've grown up around farms my entire life. For some reason I have a particular love for the Tragelaphids - Kudu, Nyala, Bongo, and Eland. My dream would be to own the only captive population of Mountain Nyala. I own a farm in the Southern Appalachians so it would probably be the closest thing to their native habitat in America.
