I was a social worker for many years but am now trying to morph into a zoo keeper via volunteering, broadening my skills base & pestering every zoo in the Uk until they employ me.

I work in a supermarket, shockingly bad job but the people I work with make it worthwhile. Also a lightning conductor for any excessive hormone-filled strops, the joys of having a girlfriend and three girls in the same house! :p

As in you share a house with a girlfriend and your three daughters, or three female housemates?

The former, if it were the latter then I think the estrogen levels would drive me insane! :p

I owned various businesses-record labels.record shops, even a nut and bolt importers before largely selling them off and doing zoos full-time-tho ive just acquired a part-share in a Canadian business.I write books on soul music and zoos... i also write for a couple of music mags as well as producing Zoo Grapevine.Ive been lucky enough to make a living from a major interest[black music] but zoology is all about putting something back if I can.It doesn't work for everyone or for every circumstance by any means but I would never work for anyone else if I could avoid it[easy to say but a truism nonetheless].

I used to deal coke for a living.

I've had some thirty-four jobs in my relatively short working career, but as of today, I am engaged by... well, one of the largest outdoor apparel suppliers in the world in their Logistics department.

I have recently reduced my hours at a zoo (to one shift iin the last 2 months) and changed my field completely. Theres still lots of keys and locks involved but instead of koalas and snakes there are humans on the other side.

I now work as a Campboss on a ship installing windmills at sea off the Danish coast...... a Campboss is in charge of the team who feed and clean up after everyone on the ship...... a bit like being a Zookeeper! Which I was, from 1977 to 1980 at Royal Windsor Safari Park, and 1980 to 1990 at John Aspinalls Port Lympne Wildlife Park! Good times!

Haha. Something like that. But to be politically correct it's a juvenile justice centre. Still at the zoo but can't argue with a non animal related government job. Twice the money and half the hours.

What does your new role entail?
