I had a very successful visit at my first Twilight Tuesday - where the zoo stays open until 8pm. Here were some changes I noticed.

Eagle Eyrie - While I've known this for a month, I failed to mention that the indoor viewing huts that overlook the canyon are now blocked with mesh. Meaning the viewings to the eagles and the condors are no longer open fronted.

The new bald eagle exhibit is very beautifully planted and Griffon already seems accustom to it. If I can, I will make a small video on it tonight.

In Night Hunters, the hairy armadillo exhibit is still empty along with the neighboring potto habitat. Though that potto was moved to replace the Rat snakes down the hall.

Still no sign of the bamboo lemur in Jungle Trails

I got to see Fiona for the first time in about a year. She performed her famous dives, breaches, and barrel rolls, and even got into a friendly brawl with her mother. Was finally able to get a good photo of her.

The species list for the Flight Cage:
Laughing Kookaburra, Ring-billed Gull, Pied Imperial Pigeon, Victoria Crowned Pigeon, Scarlet Ibis, Red-legged Seriema, Nicobar Pigeon, Inca Tern, Magpie Goose, Ruddy Shelduck, Lady Ross' Turaco

Maybe they are moving the Potto to fill one of the empty habitats in Jungle Trails?

I assume the potto by the aardvarks is the same one that was just moved by the ocelot. So none of them are being moved to another attraction. Filling in the bamboo lemur exhibit with another potto doesn't seem to be the plan... because a potto was with the lemur;) so they would've done that by now.

The grey bamboo lemur is on exhibit in Jungle Trails with a potto and the exhibits for screaming armadillo and potto by aardvarks will remain empty most likely for a while

She's been on exhibit all summer, it's just near impossible to see her against the black of the wall

Are you implying the bamboo lemur shares the first potto exhibit?

Yes. I saw her 5 days ago, with a potto.

That means I would've seen her as well and may not have noticed. That is upsetting! xD

Ok, so on the new website it has listed that American Alligators are now displayed in the Reptile House. This is a mistake right?

There are/were lots of mistakes on their site throughout the years that seem to keep piling up. It once said Lion-tailed Macaques were on Monkey Island. Of course, I skipped the Reptile House and Manatee Springs on my last visit, so I can't prove them wrong on that one.

There is now a new, full grown bald eagle in the new habitat.

I'm hoping it is but I was told he would never be exhibited there, even in the off season. Other than the fact that he's a show bird and has to remain down the path, it wouldn't be wise to exhibit a bird that is only PARTIALLY impaired in his flight. He only has trouble elevating. His performances at Reds' games proves he is skilled at gliding and keeping height.

Good news in Wings of the World, a Rhinoceros Hornbill is back on exhibit. The enclosed was renamed to Southeast Asia. Unfortunately they replaced the Andean Cock-of-the-rocks. A species that's been displayed in three different places and hasn't stayed on display for more than a month.

Also a Scarlet macaw is back on the island. Australiasia is closed off to give New Birds time to adjust. I have no clue what they are.

The zoo updated the glass viewing shelter at White Lions.

In Jungle Trails in the Aye-aye hall, you'll notice it's darker than usual. Along the canopy, more foliage was added with a new net thay runs along the viewing. The bamboo lemur was in the Galago exhibit.

It is not Sam. A zoo volunteer told me that Sam would never go on exhibit also because he's so used to people, he may try to find a way to get close to them. It is another adult male who has a wing injury.

As for the section closed of in the bird house, I was with a volunteer zoo photographer who told me she thinks it's because the guam rail just had chicks and they may be adjusting to their new home.

Does anyone have any information on the Guam Rail chicks?
