    I don't know what I was thinking! I meant Green-winged Teal.

Is this zoo worth is a visit? I've been thinking about possibly going there for a while.

Definitely yes if you like hoofstock species.

Really? Why? They only keep 7 species excluding domestics.

Moose and Pronghorn are not commonly kept in that area.

    Two Canada Lynx were born.

The zoo has obtained a new male Snow Leopard named Rajan. Anyone know where he came from?

    Updates from my visit today:

    • The Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches have been replaced with two Fantastic Leaf-tailed Geckos.
    • I saw the penguins swimming for the first time in years.
    • The Rock Pigeon and African Leopard Tortoise were both off-exhibit.
    • One Black-necked Stilit has been returned to the original exhibit, two remain in the North American Aviary.
    • There were a few very tiny Convict Cichlids.
    • The otters and Black-footed Ferrets were both no-shows today (usually both are seen easily).
    • Saw the Cougar for the fist time in a long time.

The Koi pond is now inhabited by Goldfish instead.

The zoo will reopen June 10. All visitors must enter through gate Z2 (just north of the normal entrance), and must exit through the normal entrance. The Giraffe Building and the Mayan Restaurant will close, but other indoor areas will remain open.

    Updates from my visit today:

    • The Corn Snake has been replaced by a Milk Snake.
    • The Goldfish pond is now uninhabited.
    • An Alpaca was born.
    • There is no South African Shelduck in with the penguins anymore.
    • There is no longer a Military Macaw in with the Blue-and-yellows.
    • The Wild Turkey has been moved from the White-tailed Deer exhibit into the fox exhibit, there were no foxes on display.
    • The first and second enclosures in the nutrition center now contain an American Crow.
    • No Cougar either, that enclosure now has Canada Lynx (in addition to the normal lynx exhibit!)
    • Neither species of pheasant is on exhibit either, instead there were 3 Helmeted Guineafowl.
    • The Domestic Rat enclosure is empty.
    • There didn't seem to be a Burrowing Owl on exhibit.
    • Northern Pintail, Killdeer, Canvasback, and Blue-winged Teal were all missing from the North American aviary.
    • 4 Trumpeter Swans have hatched.

If all the animals mentioned as off-exhibit here are truly gone from the zoo, the NEW Zoo just lost 14 species (and gained one).

    Updates from my visit yesterday:

    • There is now a second Blue-and-yellow Macaw.
    • The Wild Turkey has moved back in with the White-tailed Deer.
    • The Red Foxes are again signed at their old enclosure but I suspect may not have actually been in it.
    • The Burrowing Owls were back on exhibit.
    • A section of the Moose yard has been fenced off, with a sign saying "new exhibit coming soon".

The new male Snow Leopard named Rajan was born 25 April 2007 at Denver and originally named 'Robbie'. He moved to Tulsa on 4 March 2008 and from there to NEW Zoo.

The zoo has now obtained a single female Whooping Crane. She came from the wild ans is nonreleasable due to an injury. She is currently in quarantine, but will be exhibited in this space.
