When meandering through a zoo's Asian section, which megafauna species would you rather view, the mighty Gaur...

Gaur, simply because I can see the Indian rhinoceros more frequently.

I've never seen Gaur, so I'd pick Gaur. But I would rather see an Indian Rhinoceros over White and Black Rhinos.

I would’ve liked to have picked both if possible. Since only one could be chosen, I chose the gaur since there are few zoos that seem to want to keep them, which is a shame as they are incredibly impressive animals.

Definitely Indian Rhino. Gaur just feel like big cattle to me (very big, I admit), whereas I like the strange armored appearance of Indian Rhinos. They are both considered Vulnerable, but I think the conservation message is more apparent to visitors for the Rhino than the Gaur.

I know your preference, @Sarus Crane :p If all things were equal I'd prefer the rhino, as I'm not overly fond of the super muscley species, but currently I'd prefer the gaur just because I've only seen them from the Bronx monorail and haven't seen them up close.

Urgh this is like asking me ''who is your favourite child'' I love both of these species a lot.
Honestly voted for Gaur currently because I've yet to see one in person.
Can't we just make a mixed exhibit for these two :p

I really like Indian Rhinos, but I've never seen a Guar so I'm picking that one.

I voted for Indian Rhino but I would certainly have chosen Gaur had I not seen one. Both are quite magical; it's hard to choose between armoured folds vs 'roidrage muscles!

Exactly the same position with me. When I went to Paris Menagerie one got quite close and fogged up my glasses with its breath! :D But yes, I would rather see an Indian rhino because I haven't seen as many of them as gaur, strangely.

They're both impressive species, and one of my earliest memories is likely of two living Indian rhinos in a zoo, but I choose the gaur, because it's rarer in American institutions. I have personally seen them at three zoos: SDSP and Bonder Park Zoo in the nineties, and the Bronx Zoo on multiple occasions.

You're completely right! I can see a battle play out between the two:

Gaur (runs up to rhino and tries to attack with horns): Take that! Who's the king of the Indian megafauna now????

Indian Rhino: (not hurt because the Gaur's horns couldn't pierce its armor plated skin) Um.... am I supposed to say ow???

Gaur: (shocked and in disbelief) I'm the 2,000 lb muscle mass who eats grass! Outta my way!

Indian Rhino: (grunts and starts charging at Gaur)

Gaur: (calls to rest of his herd) Run!!! Go! GET TO DA CHOPPA!!!!!

Bronx Zoo NEEDS to create a walking path or boardwalk through the Asian area!
