    Any idea from where?

BTW: the 3.4 came from Schoenbrunn Wien.

Tierpark Schönbrunn (Vienna Zoo) have said on there Facebook that they sent 16 Rockhoppers to Whipsnade at the end of November. These were the chicks born there this year and last year.

The Vienna importation brings Whipsnade's group of Northern Rockhoppers to 13.10 birds.

So, the new immigrants are 10:6 individuals ranging in age from 0,5+ - 1,5+.
I remember seeing this year's chicks on my visit to Wien .....

There were four brown bears on display, all eating food from large paper sacks, when we visited today.

I don't think there has been a fourth recent arrival. There were three brown bears recently received from Sweden; the other bear was born at Whipsnade twenty-four years ago, making four bears in all.

I think they mean the arrival of the 4th brown bear...

@Nanook - I believe she is the sister of the other 2 bears from Sweden. I don't know why she came seperately.

Thank you for the clarification; that makes sense. I obviously misinterpreted "Nanook's" question; I thought he was under the impression that there were four recent arrivals.
Indeed the three new brown bears, from Sweden, are all sisters.

Thanks for that Tim and Zia, yes I heard of the two that came together recently, but was unaware of the last one, which was the third new arrival. This led to the confusion on my part at least.

The recent arrival is indeed the sister of the 2 other bears. From what I understand she had a wound which needed to heal before travelling to Whipsnade

    Hi
I just had a few questions I hoped someone could help me with!
I regularly went to Whipsnade as a child and even worked there as a teen, now I have two little ones I’ve become a member again. I remember an elephant that used to shake her head and walked with a stiff leg, does anyone remember her name?

Also how many tigers are still alive? Thank you!

They have one male tiger called Botsman atm - the female Anastasia died quite recently unfortunately.

The elephant called "Geeta" (also known as "Dilberta") had a stiff leg; she arrived at London Zoo in 1982 and, very sadly, had to be euthanised at Whipsnade in 2006 because she was suffering from very severe arthritis. Possibly this is the elephant you're interested in? Or are you thinking of an earlier animal?

Or possibly Azizah, who rocks from side-to-side with pronounced head shaking at times. Azizah is pigeon toed, and can give off the appearance of having stiff front legs when not walking.

I have to say on my last visit her posture and walking seemed to have deteriorated somewhat.

Thank you, it had been driving me crazy! I’m fairly certain it is Azizah! Is she quite old?

Do you know why she rocks/shakes? I feel like I remember a story about how she witnessed her Mum being poached, but literally have no idea if I’ve made this up or heard it as a child!

I’m not sure if ZSL have ever provided the full details, though it is the result of separation from her mother at an early age.

Mustn’t forget that London also sent their 1.0 to Whipsnade this year, so it is in all likelihood 14.10...
