Indeed. Any further, deeper discussion is probably best for a separate thread but I don't quite understand our trend of taking any prolonged conversation slightly off-topic to the main thread and chucking it into a new one. I get that we don't want to totally derail the thread, but conversations evolve and most good threads have off-topic banter like this here and there :p

It's always difficult to find the balance - in this case, I agree on both counts.

When you get nearly 2 pages of posts that are off topic and actually could stand alone as a new discussion - I would generally be in favour of splitting it.

However, I also agree that those posts were not really that off topic and could have stayed where they are. But in this case the new topic is interesting enough that I also think it works well stand alone.

So in this case, my opinion is "meh, whatever - just go with it".

... ironically, posts discussing slightly off topic posts from another thread are much more off topic than the original posts

    Back on topic now please!

We haven't had any meetups in Australia in quite a few years, so I haven't met anyone new. I also don't get to travel for work frequently like I used to when I first started the site, so I don't get to visit people in other cities.

I'm missing five off your list. And as for that @ThylacineAlive, well he had his chance to meet me and failed... But as I said, I suck at meet-ups so maybe it's not all his fault! :p;)

Well there is one very enthusiastic member from Canada whom you could potentially meet, but then again Canada is a huge country.

The UK members seem to be the only ones good at having meetups. (I tried a couple times doing a USA meetup and it went nowhere). I think the small size of their country and the large number of participants (largest representation on ZooChat) makes it easier for them.

Was I that unremarkable? I know I cut out early, but I did at least spring for admission. Always the Wallflower....

Oh man, how in the world did I leave you out???
A thousand apologies. I can assure you absolutely it was unintentional and our meetup was nothing but enjoyable. I will edit my post right now to correct it.
