As of right now I have met Nisha, MagpieGoose, zoogiraffe, gentle lemur, bongorob and Ophidia, and I have plans to meet TeaLovingDave, Javan Rhino, FunkyGibbon, Agile Gibbon, devilfish and a couple of others :) I've also more than likely crossed paths with some of the regular London Zoo visitors (Regent, tennisfan, Crowthorne, Zia etc.) but have never realised it!

Despite being in the same room as lots of zoochatters at the IZES spring meeting, I only managed to overcome my shyness to actually meet one new person - Tim May. Was nice to catch up with Zoospud too :)

I think that I can boast here. Being a regular at Chester, I have met a lot of ZooChatters there and I have also encountered one or two others at UK zoos, notably Gigit at my other home zoo which is Paignton. But this year I have been very glad to meet up with Magpie Goose and ShonenJake at Chester (as mentioned above in this thread) - plus a very special and accidental encounter at Paignton, when Gigit kindly introduced me to Pertinax :) so I became the second ZooChatter on his lifelist.

I have a feeling you might actually have been the third - I seem to recall Tim May has also had a rare encounter with this elusive species.

And one more to add; Designaka who I realised I met after seeing his username in Zoo Grapevine magazine.

No he hasn't.... only postal, not in the flesh.:)

    For those wishing to spot a Pertinax here are some field notes;

Tends to more active in summer months.
Rarely seen at weekends or school holidays.
Moves at rapid speed through zoo, usually stopping only at chosen exhibits.
Often found in vicinity of Primates, Rhinos, deer etc. Rarely seen in walkthroughs, Reptile Houses etc or other crowded situations.
Can sometimes be observed cautiously approaching a coffee shop around mid-morning.

The ones in bold are the ones I see regularly.

I can be recognised by the fact that other zoochatters are taller, even the ones still at school. My natural habitat is in the vicinity of the bongo enclosure, usually staring frustratingly at a calculator when I try and count them :p

Field notes I shall have to follow attentively :p at times it seems like one has a better chance of tracking down saola than meeting you!

You've finally upgraded from your old abacus?

Seeing these new lists keeps reminding me of others that I've met so I am going to retire and try and work out exactly who I have met and spoken to! :p

I forgot to say this earlier.

Bongorob comes in winter and summer plumage.

Legs covered in the winter and knees on view in the summer.

And just like the Arctic Fox the Bongorob is best viewed in the winter.
