Black-lipped pikas make huge colonies like prarie dog towns. Around them you see sakers and upland buzzards. We saw two wolves on a walk to one of the passes. This road is recently paved (2006+) and avialable for normal cars on very long drive from Xining. Wildlife has good chance to last, so train your altitude stamina and bargaining skills in Chinese.
