Hi All! Over the last 11 years, I've had the honor of working with a tiny 2-acre rescue-rehab zoo in the California mountains. We've master planned a new 25 acre zoo on a mountainside site that fell threw due to failures of political partners. We've master planned a 10 acre zoo on a new site that then was split in half to 5 acres because of an EPA requirement to not cross an intermittent stream. Last year, we finally completed design on the new 5 acre zoo and it is now under construction. The tiny zoo, which has a loyal following due to its commitment to wildlife rescue / rehab and long term care of animals that cannot be released into the wild (as well as other misfits that have been rejected by other zoos or confiscated by the government as illegal pet trade victims), has had trouble fundraising because of their small staff and small visitor base. The County of San Bernardino has foot the bill for the majority of the project, but there are many animal care and guest experience & education elements that have been eliminated from the first phase. A group of supporters has created a GoFundMe page to raise the necessary $1,000,000 needed to add back key elements of the zoo for use on opening day in 2018. Please check out Big Bear Alpine Zoo to learn about the zoo, and if you feel like they are a worthy cause, consider donating and sharing the link to the GoFundMe: Click here to support Big Bear Alpine Zoo Relocation Fund by Stacey Ludlum Thank you so much! There is a thread on the topic of this zoo move already: Moonridge Animal Park - Plan for new Big Bear Lake Zoo (aka Moonridge Animal Park) in California You may want to repost it there, or at the very least post it under their (Moonridge) forum instead of the events and meetups forum. Most ZooChatters (I assume) if they have any money at all are going to donate to their local zoo or to a conservation group. I am not sure you will get any takers here, but best of luck.
