    World-first-breeding at the Wilhelmshafen Aquarium : the 2013 first discribed Halmahera walking shark ( Hemiscyllium halmahera ) laid several eggs and the first of them hatched for 6 days ! Hopefully also the others will hatch and the species can find a wider distribution in European collections. At the moment the species is only kept at Wilhelmshafen and the Gdynia Aquarium in Poland.

    On Dec. 7 a bunch of Lesser pipefish ( aka Nilsson's pipefish ) - Syngnathus rostellatus and catsharks were born / hatched :

    Heute sind bei uns "Kleine Seenadeln" geschlüpft.
    Sie sind wirklich winzig und man muss genau hingucken um sie in ihrem Aufzuchtbecken zu entdecken.[​IMG]
    Kleine Seenadeln leben u.a. auch in der Nordsee. Wie bei den Seepferdchen tragen die Männchen die Babys aus.

    Auch bei unseren Katzenhaien gibt es wieder Nachwuchs, den ihr natürlich auch vom Besucherraum sehen könnt.[​IMG]
