I think troy and blade are hybrid tigers, binx is a puma and other two male lions!

I seem to think YWP have done more and are doing more already. Within three years of opening it now has Leopards, Tigers and Lions. They are also expecting to house Giraffes and Anteaters too within the next year. Very nice collection with a great ambition.

I haven't been to either yet, but from what i can gather YWP has far greater potential long term, space wise at least. For Wingham to go from none to four 'big' cat species in less than 2 years is still a major achievement! Whether by luck or otherwise to get jaguar & puma, hardly seen anywhere in southern england , is a master stroke in my book!

0.1 Puma due to arrive from a collection in France very shortly (as a mate for resident male, Binx) along with two more arrivals, the species of which will be revealed tomorrow

The new arrivals from France have been revealed to be a pair of young caracals.

This collection just gets better & better! Since Linton moved theirs on 5 or more years ago, i think ive only seen caracal at Port Lympne .

On one hand, it's excellent news that another collection has gone into puma and caracal. On the other, more important hand - why did it have to be another collection way down south where I can't get to it? :p

As far as I can tell, the best means for me to get there would be to get a train to Bekesbourne and walk 5 miles - which wouldn't be too bad, as I've walked that far to visit Hamerton, but if I'm going all that way, I'm not going to walk past Howlett's to visit a much smaller collection :p

Cheer up! At least the only polar bears and giant pandas are more accesible to you, and probably my number 1 Uk collection (Edinburgh) than about 90% of the uk mmbers!
