Hi, Does anyone have any information on the elephants that were kept here, How many there were or what happened to them? I'm sure at least a couple of people on here must have seen them when they were still around?

If anyone has any pictures that they would put up in the gallery ? that would be great!

I think they had a female African called Myfanwy, who is (according to a website i visited... can't remember which) now living at Blair Drummond, although I'm pretty certain they never had an elephant of that name there.
That's all I know though, as I've never visited there.

How big is the enclosure the elephants used to live in?

Dont worry your not missing anything. The enclosure is really too small for Camels let alone Elephants and very few of the animals in my opinion have good enought enclosures.

Havent visited in a while so im not sure how the new Reptile House looks like.

I have an old guide book that says info on Asian Elephants and pictures of Asian Elephants in the camel enclosure, but they only mension Pwtyn though. As i'm probably the only welsh speaker on here, Pwtyn means a cute small thing in Welsh, an extremely odd name for an Asian Elephant!!!!!! and its proounced "Put-In", sorry for trying to give u all a welsh lesson.

I remember seeing elephants at the WMZ many times growing up. They never looked happy....very small dusty enclosure with nothing in it to stimulate them. dont think I have pics of the elephants. should have some from the zoo tho...i'll post if i can find.
Best bit of WMZ is their amazing chimp troope, many named after coins. have sat and watched them for hours over the years...tho its been a while since i was there last.
