Apparently Kasanga the male lion was supposed to be transported to Uganda last november. Is this true and if it is then has he left?
Critical note: What is the conservation benefit of sending a zoomix / crossbreed lion back to Africa where a resident lion population proliferates ..!???
When we did our Tiger / Bear offroad experience last October the keeper kindly took us for a bit of an added extra offroading in the Lion section - she was telling us how the older females had just never accepted him - to the point he was being kept seperately - so I would not be surprised he has been moved on. She also said he never seemed to settle into the safari park surroundings and thought he would be better off in a more traditional zoo environment.
He went (or is going) to a wildlife education center in Uganda as an ambassador: Mentioned in the article below that his transfer was delayed due to further medical tests being required Uganda wildlife education Centre to get a lion from UK | KFM http://allafrica.com/stories/201611090106.html

Went woeburn today, much building work being done on red pandas enclosure, but saw the bush dogs. Saw rhinos mating for good while so hopefully baby rhinos in future . Giraffe herd was impressive with the calfs out but often away from road. Only disappointment was 3D sea lion show was evacuated from and only saw max and maybe one other sea lion and no chance to see sealion baby Gus. Any questions happy to answer best I can
Woburn have received Chester's Grevy's zebra stallion Mac last week. It is hoped he will mate with the parks three females. Matchmaking zebra keepers hope Mac will become the daddy
0.1 Red Panda has arrived from Bristol. A second female will come from Birmingham Nature Centre shortly and a third female will join them later in the year
Went for a visit today and was impressed with the park! Just one question; does Woburn currently have any male lions as on my few trips round the safari didn't manage to see a male so didn't know if I'm just unlucky or if they dont hold any currently!
No - the previous breeding male (Kasanga) went to the Big Cat Sanctuary (Smarden) earlier in the year. The only male cubs he sired are now at West Midlands
