Today is World Penguin Day and yet the event does not seem to be recieving the amount of attention it deserves. Penguins are popular with zoo visitors and penguins are in peril. There are falling populations caused by as yet not fully determined factors coupled with oil spills. The most recent of these is that affecting the Rockhoppers on Tristan da Cunha and surrounding islands. If your local zoo has penguins I hope they draw attention to Penguin plight today.
