This photo seems to have been taken through a small break in the fence.

unlike regular alligators, the rare white alligator lives solely on American mini-golf courses. They have a strong need in captivity to be kept on astroturf; water is actually harmful to these creatures. They veritably are an affront to God.

Actual line from the sign on the tank: "because the white alligator is so rare we prefer to keep the animal dry while on display"

I hope that is a vacuum chamber as well, because air might be harmful too.

There is a reference to a "trailer". Are these animals only kept like this for display in a mobile exhibition?

on the link I gave, BeardsleyZooFan wrote "Rainforest Reptiles is a Massachusetts-based organization that rescues herps that were pets or were injured. This white gator is the only animal in their collection that wasn't a rescue. They probably just call it Rainforest Reptiles as they thought it was a catchy name. Since they travel a lot, this exhibit seems to be just to display the animal, although it's still a crappy exhibit. When I looked at their website, it showed a pic of a white gator outdoors."

I gather this was a temporary exhibit at the zoo.

A temporary exhibit at that zoo, but probably a permanent exhibit for the gator.

Rainforest Reptiles was only at the zoo for a short period of time over the summer to help celebrate the Beardsley Zoo's 90th birthday. They also brought in one Aldabra and one Galapagos Giant Tortoise that were both displayed in a nice exhibit (built in a week) with a mud wallow and wooden shed (I guess that's where they stayed at night) but it's empty now and the zoo doesn't know what to do with it (they're thinking of getting perminant tortoises).
