It's the bacteria Burkholderia pseudomallei found in soil in the tropics, which can cause Melioidosis in humans, gorillas and other animals.
Hello, where i can see project plan on new rainforestpark North and new Bird paradise and rainforest park south ?
Proposed complex map for the new additions (darker green): Interestingly it appears Rainforest Wild will be split into two, on both sides of the road. They will be connected by an over-bridge. I wonder if there will be two seperate entrances (one for each) ?
I understand there is no bridge connecting both halves, but there will be some kind of shuttle service between the East and West Arrival nodes (bus, tram, etc). There will be 2 entrances - Asia entrance at West node and Africa entrance at East node.
On the map Jambo posted it says "Nature-Themed Indoor Attractions" next to Rainforest Wild Africa. Do you know what type of attractions they mean?
One of the indoor attractions is a science centre-type facility that will use multimedia to showcase different environments like caves, the deep sea and microscopic worlds, and will also host travelling exhibitions. There is supposedly another attraction that is a nature-themed play facility for young kids.
Hello, are there progress works on new Bird park ? and Rain forest park ? and are there projects in PDF ? I'm corious .
Hi, Animal lover, Singapore are going to had the new Mandai rejuvenation project. I'm super looking forward. Screenshot-2022-04-15-094910
@Zooish, I recently came across this plan called Singapore Zoo Master Plan shown on CLR Designs. Is this really how Singapore Zoo might turn out? And if so, when will we realistically see this plan be carried out into effect?
I believe this is one of the draft plans, not the final one. The masterplan timeframe is typically 10 to 15 years.
So if the Kidsworld area is to become the new elephant enclosure, what will take the place of the current elephant area?
@Zooish Couple questions: Not sure if you posted this earlier, but what is the timeline for the completion of the Mandai Project? I'm also debating between the zoo, River Wonders and the Night Safari in the winter, leaning towards River Wonders in the day and Night Safari at, well, night. What would be the best way of going about it if I was spending 1-3 days in Singapore?
They can be done in one very full and tiring day. Get to the zoo in the morning and as long as you're at River Safari by 3:30-4 you'll be ok, because it's open until 7. At, or ideally a little before closing time, you can head over to Night Safari.
The new bird park was gonna open in 2022 but it probably will be delayed till 2023 or 2024. Same with the rainforest park. I don't know if they've started or are continuing construction on new changes to the zoo like the new kidzworld, new elephant habitat and new sea lion habitat Yeah like CGSwans said, you can finish River Wonders very quickly, it takes about an hour and a half, if you take the boat ride. Maybe skip the main zoo if its too tiring to go to three parks in 1 day and save your energy for Night Safari as it has a whole lot to see and even I have barely seen much of Night Safari, only visited the tram and fishing cat trail
