There was a lot of activity viewed from a distance today when we visited. Speaking to a few of the keepers they have settled really well, but they are allowing them to take things at their own pace. They are also having to slowly adapt them to the correct diet (they have been eating rice etc), but they do seem quite interested in meat at this point - all good signs.
They will not be on show for a while until they are fully acclimatised, so don't all rush to visit just yet!

Whereabouts at the Park, are the Bears being moved to. Saw a overhead picture of the exhibit on the news article, but trying to picture where that could be? Also where are the Okapi kept, as they aren't on the Park map yet. Many thanks.

There was a live report from the bear enclosures on BBC Breakfast this morning. Looks like they've settled after the long journey

If you look on iPlayer, there's a few minutes from around 6:53, then briefer re-visits before the half hours.

The bears are near the camels.

Okapi are in a space between the tigers and the South American area.

If it’s the 4 wooded enclosures your talking about I believe it is the permanent enclosure for the ussuri bears. The 2.5 acre exhibit there in now is the rehab centre I believe

I think they will be moved to the 50 million expansion area at the other side of the wetlands. Part of the expansion is an Asian area with woodland

I hope the woodland area is not for the bears, there is no lakes, pools, waterfalls, hills in the planning so not stimulating enough

I'd have thought that area is no where near big enough by YWP's standards.

No and there was no work going on there last week - I think its been stated that planning permission was turned down? To be honest I don't think it will happen now, with the expansion plans there doesn't seem much reason to build there now.

I'm probably totally wrong but I did wonder if the animals destined for that area of the park may have gone to or be destined for the Ark zoo at Boston instead, as most of their animals are 'rescues'?

Funnily enough, I noticed a message earlier today on their facebook regarding a big announcement soon about new arrivals.

What's this? Just looked on their facebook and can't see anything except for a picture of Echo enjoying the sun?

The park has confirmed that the brown bears will be on show from 9:30am on Saturday 11th August - but that they may be restricting viewing times in the early stages of their rehabilitation.

    From the YWP facebook

Yorkshire Wildlife Park will play host to Daisybeck Studios new and exciting Channel 5 series BIG WEEK AT THE ZOO.

The series will be broadcast from the Park at 8pm Monday to Friday from 20th August.

This five part series will follow the story of the bears in greater detail and will also show other zoos from across the UK, including Edinburgh and Jersey.

The series will be presented by Countryfile’s Helen Skelton and Springwatch Unsprung’s Nick Baker. Reporters will include Lucy-Jo Hudson, former JLS star and farmer JB Gill, The Yorkshire Vet’s Peter Wright, The One Show’s Miranda Krestovnikoff and Extreme Animals presenter Steve Leonard. Earlier today, our Rangers introduced brother Kai and Riku together for the very first time. After 17 years of living next to each other, but never having been in contact with another Bear, it was a fantastic moment.
We'll be sharing a video of their first meeting soon, but in the meantime just enjoy these photos (on facebook) of the two boys playing with each other out in their reserve - how BEAUTIFUL is it to see this?

Maybe we shouldn't speculate ;) I got the impression that they were purposefully avoiding stating it, maybe at the request of the Belgian holder.
