The Antwerp zoo has announced plans for a new restaurant a mixed aviary featuring African buffalo an extension of the giraffe enclosure amongst other plans.

That's one impressive aviary to hold African Buffalo. ;)

I think it sounds quite exciting and innovative. I do wonder if the old rhino house won't look rather out of place though.

Part of the idea is to try to get birds like cattle egrets and oxpeckers perching on the buffalo. If it works it will be fantastic!

I love this idea. For a small landlocked zoo housing a large species of hoofed animal and many species of bird on the same area is great. The new zebra/ giraffe exhibit though seems to be small. Has the zoo abandoned plans to expand the elephant's exhibit?

Wow, a walk-through aviary with African buffalo and birds, what a brilliant idea! This is certainly one of the most novel ideas for a new exhibit I have heard for a while, can't wait to see how it goes!

This is the (not perfectly translated) description of the exhibit from the link in the OP:

I'm a little confused about the description of the species set to inhabit the restored Pig Building though, any ideas what the first two are?

A rough google search I think they are bat eared fox and sengi! Which I'm guessing will be the giant rufous and black species! What an amazing development!

The single giant elephant shrew is the first (and sofar only) offspring of the Rotterdam couple. Antwerp is Europe's second holder of the rufous giant elephant shrew atm. It's been at Antwerp for a few months now, I think it must have been mentioned somewhere in 2013...

The "wintergarden" is now in use as butterfly-house.
