Oh god just getting ready for CAPS and the others to see what they will be plastering on the national media. Maybe it is a chimp or the old director running wild!

A444 Atherstone Road Twycross, both ways at Orton Lane
A444 Leicestershire - A444 Atherstone Road in Twycross re-opened in both directions near the Orton Lane junction, because of an earlier accident.
    found this on bbc traffic

I think if this was happening to Chester or Paignton we wouldn't be so worried but because it's Twycross we don't trust them enough to make the right decisions.

Jokes aside, I hope the chimps are OK and have come to no harm.

    Twycross Zoo Facebook update:
Twycross Zoo can confirm that one of their group of chimpanzees found their way into a secure service area within their enclosure.
This required closure of the Zoo whilst keepers encouraged the chimps back into their normal living areas with ice cream and fizzy drinks.
At no time were the public at risk, and no people or chimps were harmed during the incident, however it is part of our safety procedures that we close the zoo whilst such events are resolved.
Investigations will commence internally now the situation has been resolved into how the animal escaped.
The Zoo reopened at 11.30am today and all of the chimps are fine, if not a little excited about having ice cream for breakfast. They are all on view to the public as normal.

Pleased to hear that, these things happen, as long as nobody, chimp or human has been harmed that's the main thing

Does Twycross have a secure or strengthened boundary fence? Not that it would contain an escaping Chimp or rampaging elephant.

Its not so long ago Chester had not one but their whole(?) Chimp group exploring a service area...;)

that's the more interesting bit- it says 'during rehousing of eight chimps' From where to where? - presumably within an existing building- or not?

I have just read the B.B.C. report on this incident. Apparently eight chimps managed to enter a service corridor, they did not get outside the house at all, I don't know which house this actually was. As a treat, the chimps were given a treat of cornets and fizzy drinks after their escapade.

The chimps involved were Jambo,Tojo, Jomar, Flynn, Victoria, Jenet, Charlotte and Josie, who I remember a while back escaped from the green mile and made her way to the food preparation area. The only damage done today was two broken light bulbs!
