Can anyone please list the species (at least the fishes) that are being held in the new(er) Reef Aquarium within the Tropical hall? Thanks very much in advance.
I don't have the list but the tank received a ribbon muray and blue stars, new species for the zoo. Log into Facebook | Facebook
A pretty good news : it looks like the Paris Zoo wants to make some refurbishments into the Grand Rocher to allow visitors to go in. Pay attention : the works will not be done to allow visitors to go up but just to use the indoor ground floor to welcome expositions. They need approximately 900.000 euros to redo the electricity and reinforce the floor slab in this way. They hope to get enough money and start works next year for a opening in 2023. To get part of the money the Grand Rocher is part of a sort of contest organized by a newspaper and other companies. Fingers crossed it will get a good amount «Sauvons nos monuments» : dans le Val-de-Marne, un match entre une église et un rocher, à vous de voter
According to the french forum : - there are now 4 addra gazelles in the giraffes exhibit, - the scimitar-horned oryxes left the zoo and building works will be done in their enclosure to welcome a new species.
For what reasons do they stop with scimitar oryx? The addra are mhorr gazelle of course and I wonder if they have a breeding group or a group of bachelor male for starters? Would be nice to add addax, N.Af. ostrich and Dorcas gazelle too (or dune gazelle)
Don't know unfortunately and I am quite disappointed with this info as the zoo has a long history with the species.
On the 4th of October a 2-year old female Grevy's zebra (Equus grevyi) arrived from zoo Planckendael. The zoo now has 1,3 Grevy's zebra. Source: Instagram of Parc Zoologique de Paris (29/10/2021) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVnh2yHqvGr/
So, according to the french forum, the new species is roan antelope. Zootierliste indicate that a female arrived in november so could confirmed the info.
Like you (@Antoine) I would have prefered that the scimitar oryxes stayed at Vincennes. Instead, Zurich could stop keeping them at the Lewa exhibit and could replace it with the roans. Although roans occur in the Sahel Zone too, my solution would fit geographicaly better overall.
Hello, for history lovers, the zoological literature facebook page offers you the 1938 guide to the zoological park of Vincennes
The two male giraffe yongsters Dwali*2014 and Ugambi*2015 moved 2017 to Portugal, could not find any more infos....does anybody know more about the move of them??? 2021 in June the giraffe female Djuba sadly passed away, she was born 2012.
Recent news : - arrival of common cuttlefish from Station Marine de Concarneau (France). 3 are already on show in the reptile house. - a western eurasian griffon vulture hatched. Parc zoologique de Paris
