This is a random question i know, but i would like to know who design's the housing for animals at zoo's i know mostly the zoo keepers etc, but also who builds it, like where does all the stuff come from like who builds the fake rocks, where does the zoo signs come from (i found the website but lost it), where does the water pumps come from for aniamls like seals and penguins, the stuff the ponds for seals and penguins are made from that white stuff, there must be place's in the UK that do this but i cant find any, has anyone got some links thanks

An area I am very interested in and I have been lucky enough to be involved in the planning process for an exhibit at my local zoo.
A good website is ZooLex Zoo Design Organization lots of exhibits from around the world also has a directory of firms that deal with design.

My local Zoo is Edinburgh, which is going through a masterplan along with the Highland Wildlife park.
The exhibit was for Bongo, Red River Hog and a species of monkey.

The design and construction was done in house, as many as the exhibits at Edinburgh Zoo are.

I know there is one particular architect company in the UK that has been involved in many exhibit projects across europe including the UK.

I believe or read somewhere chester as there own in house team for designing them.
