    NEWS 2018:

    Asian small-clawed otters are coming.
    An interesting new exhibit is under construction.

    News:
    - One female pygmy hippo (named Isotta) has arrived. It was built a good new exhibit for this species that took the place where once there were common hippos.
    - Two Mexican beaded lizard have arrived from Rome.
    - One male red panda has arrived from Denmark.

    Any idea what happened to the common hippos?

    Yes, the male was sent to Turkey and the female was sent to Zoo di Napoli (creating new couple with a young male that arrived from Punta Verde).

    Two small clawed otters arrived at Pistoia Zoo last week.
    They are hosted in a nice new exhibit.

    A pair of binturong has arrived last week (one from Tierpark Berlin and one from Olomouc), but they are still off show.

    Sorry if I've missed this, but have the elephants been moved to the acceptable new area now? The enclosure I saw in 2014 was shocking , probably 1960s or worse !

    Yes, there are a lot of new projects (there is a new area available to build new exhibits, but it will take time)...in the future they will be revealed ;).
