São Paulo Zoo is opening the selection process for contract 59 new staff for the Zoo and Zoo Safari. I found it interesting to share the information with you for that you get a idea in how the staff is selected and what is the minimum degree requested by the Zoo. São Paulo Zoo is the biggest Zoo in South America and is run by government. In Brazil the time you are in school is divided like this: Pre- School from 4 to 6 years of age, at 7 years old you get to the Fundamental School, where you stay during 8 years, after that you get to the Medio Schools for more 3 years, than you are able to try a place in a University and get the Degree you want. Well see bellow: Zoo Keeper are 15 places avaiable: no degree needed, you have only to complete the Fundamental School. Nutrition Center are 3 places avaiable: no degree needed, you have only to complete the Fundamental School. There are several other posts avaiable but this are the only related to the animal collection, it is totally different from all other zoo jobs I have seen in other parts of world, here you dont request a minimum, this show why the situation of the Zoos in tihs part of the world are so terrible. Its a shame that you dont ask more from your staff, what you can wait from such a selection process ? The same that happened some years ago when several animals where poisoned at the zoo leading to the death of the "most important animals at the collection at this time".
