By accidentally opening the wrong gate Amur tigers Tomak and Micha came into the same enclosure and within seconds Tomak attacked Micha which was deadly wounded :(.

I might go to Leipzig later this year, I went before in 2013, but didn't see the pangolins... There seems to be a specific time when they are active - when?! :)

There's a sign on the enclosure with a cardboard clock to indicate the feeding time - that's the time to head there as it's a virtual guarantee of seeing them. It was about 1pm/2pm when I was last there, as I recall - best thing is to go to the enclosure first thing on arrival and check the time for that day. :)

Or ask the very nice people at the Safari office at the entrance before entering the zoo-they should know the feeding time of the pangolins.Last time I've been to the Zoo, feeding time was at 11:30.

Free-flying King Vultures would be awesome in Gondwanaland! I want to revisit just to see that!

For the first time a Caribbean flamingo chick hatched at the South-America-aviary.

All three flamingo species (Lesser, Caribbean, Chilean) bred this year successfully.

I applaud that development, but I would still like to see at some point the Caribbeans moved out, so both aviaries have single species only (and not a chance at any crossbreeding ..).
