Leipzig is at the moment the only holder of Klasio rainbowfishes ( Melanotaenia klasioensis ) which where imported from Indonesialast year. Now the Zoo has archieved the first breeding-result with the species .
Approximately 1.350.000 visitors came to the zoo in 2020, about 450.000 less than 2019 due to corona closure in spring and winter. The first Lesser flamingo chicks hatched.
14 (6,8) Eastern quolls were born last year and successfully raised to three dams from Tasmania. A male Emperor tamarin arrived.
The zoos terrarium is closed for reconstruction for 2 years now. The reopening of the aquarium will take place in summer or fall. A great part of the livestock left the zoo.

Unfortunately Eastern black rhino bull N'DUGU (24) died. He suffered from severe therapy- resistant digestive problems. Already five Lesser flamingo chicks hatched.
A male Guanaca arrived from Berlin Tierpark for a short time to mate with the females. A female White-nosed coati arrived from Usti Zoo.

In Gondwanaland a tomato frog has "moved" into the enclosure of black-rumped agoutis. According to zootierliste the tomato frogs free roam Gondwanaland, so I persume the frog entered the enclosure by accident but still it's an intersting combination. A male capybara (*2020) arrived from Osnabrück earlier this year, probably within the last four weeks.
