It has been a long time in coming, but the Suzhou Zoo has finally written itself in the history books with its Chinese alligators! Now I admit it is a bit older and the 6 hatchlings emerged in August 2013, but I still found it noteworthy to be posted here!

The parents - apparently - were imported in the early 1980's and had only started mating/egg-laying in July 2012. So, there is still some hope for any "older" Chinese alligators in other collections!!!

    Enjoy the read!

The technique of breeding Chinese alligators in captive has been very mature in China, and there has been commercial exploitation. The main problem is the protection of natural habitat now.
