    Improvements to the grizzly bear exhibit and the return of bison to the Zoo may be coming soon.

    Sunny the male Bengal tiger was euthanized. Eventually either Malayan or Sumatran tigers will inhabit the area after renovations are made.

    Some lovely small additions for this zoo. The curator discussed in the article below they recently received Green Keel-bellied Lizard, Madagascar Ground Gecko and Antilles Pink-toed Tarantula. They are on display in the zoo's raptor centre: Zoo News: Tiny critters are newest residents

    Other news in 2021:

    On January 15th, the zoo announced they have acquired a (1.0) green tree python named Dexter from the Amarillo Zoo in Texas. He is exhibited in the Raptor Center.

    On March 6th, the zoo announced that their turkey vultures have moved to the former grivet monkey exhibit next to their African lions.

    On March 18th, the zoo announced that their African leopard exhibit is closed as their leopard has a small sore on the side of his tail and the zoo is waiting for the wound to heal.

    On March 21st, the zoo announced that the week prior, they built a sidewalk around the building where the larger snakes and turtles live.

    On April 5th, the zoo announced that it has acquired a (0.0.1) great-horned owl nestling, which the zoo hopes can be rehabilitated and released.

    On April 29th, the zoo announced that they have moved their (0.1) Lar gibbon named Rerun into the former turkey vulture exhibit.

    On May 5th, the zoo announced that they have rehabilitated a (0.0.1) Cooper's hawk and had released it back into the wild.

    On May 6th, it was reported that the zoo had acquired a (0.1) pot-bellied pig named Pearl from an undisclosed facility and is living in the former wolf enclosure.

    On June 17th, the zoo posted some updates including finishing installing shade structures for the public viewing area near the bison exhibit, as well as getting ready to do concrete work for the alligator house.

    On July 16th, the zoo announced they have built a pathway to the binturong exhibit.

    On August 5th, it was reported that concrete work for the alligator exhibit has been completed, and building the winter building will be completed by October.

    On August 9th, the zoo announced that a (1.0) Virginia opossum named Bucky has passed away due to cancer in his spleen. He was 1 year old.

    On August 12th, the zoo announced that work on the exterior of the alligator winter holdings have now been completed. The zoo also announced that they have redone the flooring in what used to be the Ed Shed, which is now used as an event center.

    On December 16th, the zoo announced that they have acquired a (1.0) southern tamandua. 2 days later, he was officially named Enzo.

    On March 4th, the zoo announced that they have acquired a (1.0) blue-tongued skink named Archie.

    On March 10th, the zoo announced that because of avian influenza, they have now moved most of their birds inside, while other birds have received exhibit modifications for a lower chance of getting the disease.

    On March 18th, the zoo announced they have acquired (0.0.2) degus (species unspecified) named Kiwi and Clementine and are on-exhibit in the raptor center.

    On July 26th, the zoo announced they have demolished their old playground in place for the construction of a new playground, which will last between 1-2 months to complete.

    On August 5th, the zoo announced they had acquired (0.2) domestic rabbits (breed not specified) named Lola and Lily from the Golden Belt Humane Society in Kansas.

    On January 13th, 2023, the zoo announced they have a new (0.0.1) red-eyed crocodile skink named Vhagar which is now on exhibit in the Raptor Center.
