I have just noticed that Zoopark Chomutov and Ostrava zoo imported Siberian cranes from Russia. Great news.

Births this year have included a female Clouded Leopard cub in July and 3:0Amur Tiger cubs on 2nd June

ISIS also list Ostrava as now having 1:2 Asian Lions rather than the previous 1:1 that were recorded earlier in the year, Can someone confirm the arrival of a second female please?

There are some other nice babies in this zoo

    - at least 3 Caribbean flamingo chicks
    - 4 newly hatched Crocodile monitors (varanus salvadorii)
    - at least two Hanuman langurs

The old waterfowl pavilion reconstruction starts next week. After a total rebuilding/enlarging it will become "An evolution pavilion", with modern enclosures for chimps, Diana mokeys, red river hogs, guerezas, different african reptiles, frogs, fish etc. The money (9 mio USD) were secured largely from european union fonds.

The old house looks like this now:

Interesting; if I recall correctly this means that both collections have now gone out of the species.

The elephant calf is a female.

Yesterday, it has been separated for a short time from Vishesh and tube-fed. Today, it started to willingly drink from a bottle, offered through the barriere. Keepers try everything possible that the calf would start to feed from Vishesh.

I'm looking to import hedgehogs from the Czech Republic. Is there a zoo breeding that can ship to the united states?

The Caribbean flamingo colony started its courthip displays much earlier then in other years. The group consists of 49 birds right now (there are also a few chicks (4?) at Zlin zoo that hatched last years from adopted Ostrava´s eggs and should return home so the group will grow).
