I would love to keep my hometown zoo's page updated with exhibit summaries and a species list but I was banned from ever editing again on Wikipedia for "over editing".

Pardon the bump but is anyone else here willing to contribute besides me?

The thing is that you can't just use your own knowledge from visits as a source to update articles on Wikipedia. You need an external reference.

Some on this forum will recall the time someone kept making wild and incorrect claims about their home zoo, and when called out on this fact pointed to the fact that the information was on the Wikipedia page for the zoo.... a cursory look at the edit history for the page revealed that the information had been added minutes before by someone or other :p

They were eventually banned from editing the Wikipedia page for the very reason you allude to, among others.

There are a lot of zoo Wikipedia pages that are out of date or too short...

That is why I feel that ZooChat needs its own wiki.

If you've got the time and the inclination, you could edit the article yourself. The great thing about Wikipedia is that anyone can edit.

Rather than posting here, I would suggest having a look at the WikiProject.
    Wikipedia:WikiProject Zoo - Wikipedia

Here are the WikiProject Zoo tasks: Template:WPZOO Tasks - Wikipedia

I have actively edited Wikipedia in the past, though I've been far two busy lately to spend much time on Wikipedia.

I vote to remove the section on Bizarre and Beautiful in the Newport Aquarium wiki, as it is outdated by nearly 3 years.

No need to remove it - just have it turned into "Seahorses: Unbridled Fun".;)

Why are you casting a vote? Wikipedia has nothing to do with Zoochat. If you want to edit the page, then just go edit it.
