Oh no ! The aviaries in this area seem too small for such monkeys.

Why not the past squirrel monkeys island ?

That is a possibility too, as I said, I'm only guessing.

Some more pictures and a video of elephant females in their new exhibit.

Seems like the wooly monkeys will indeed be eventually allowed to the former squirrel monkey island.

Starting this Friday, the zoo will allow visitors near the new elephant enclosure Karibuni (3 hectares = 7,5 acres). Shortly before 13:00 elephants will go from their old enclosure to the new one by using a steel corridor. And between 13:00 and 17:00 this corridor will be open to visitors who can pass it and so walk at a path that runs around the southern end of the elephant enclosure and will have nice view of the animals.

@Jana Right but regarding the Zlin's love story with birds, its tradition of importation for itself and the fact that the new facility in the Ecuadorian rescue center was paid with a zoo gift, I doubt it will not be the case.

What gift exactly (even though I think it is very good to have quid-pro-quo in these instances)?

Zlin zoo has donated 16500 USD to a wild animal rescue station run by Zoo El Pantanal last year, another money will follow this year.

I think that if they would indeed by supposed to come to Zlín, the zoo would have announced that straight away and wouldn't use the "strengthen the European breeding facilities." phrase

The donation is already bigger as they received some money in 2018, when Zlin's 4NATURE program launched, as well.

The zoo received a female kiwi. 20-months old nameless female has arrived from Smithsonian national zoo /US. After 30 days in post-import isolation she will join the resident male Gerry. Nice addition.

Zlín managed to secure funding to continue with the construction of the Elephant house and Jaguar exhibit, both scheduled to be finished in 2022.

The article also mentions a new exhibit for hyraxes and tortoises and a new aviary for southern ground hornbills to be constructed during 2021 and also confirms that the zoo will indeed obtain horned screamers.

So, the new jaguar pair should come from Perú. The zoo works on import that should happen next year. If it doesn´t materialize, they will be sourced within Europe.

Due to covid-related closure of the zoo 3 times this year, attendance is down to 600.000 instead of 680.000 seen last year.

All 3 otter pups survived. The zoo announced their sex - 1 male and 2 females and published a short video of transport of the otter family from a temporary box to their exhibit in Yucatan hall.

The first younster hatched in the zoo in the new year is a Spot-billed pelican chick.
