News: As part of the zoo's 70th anniversary, several developments that have taken place and will take place at the park have been announced. The zoo is in a readaptation era, for which Jerez's major Mamen Sánchez Díaz has stated the following "This is the first step of a more ambitious project that will be completed with the 13 hectares that the zoo will occupy in the future and that responds to the growing interest in the plant world of the public that visits the park". The news in question are: - The Przewalski's wild horses (Equus ferus przewalskii) are now living in a brand-new exhibit right behind the Dorcas gazelle and ostrich paddock, utilizing a small land area the zoo already owned but never got to really use. Their former exhibit is for that matter empty or has been connected with the Mhorr gazelle paddock next door. - Next to where the new horse exhibit is, the zoo is planning on building a brand new 2000 square meter exhibit for the zoo's Asiatic lions (Panthera leo persica). The zoo is on dire need of this, their current lion exhibit is the worst big cat enclosure I've ever seen. The project is still on development. - The Egyptian fruit bat (Rousettus aegyptiacus) exhibit will receive a important revamp. - A "mini farm" area will be built housing domestic species. - A brand new walkthrough aviary will be built. - A Rothschild's giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi) calf will soon be born at the zoo. - The zoo's restaurant, which has been closed for many years, has reopened going by the name of "Mandíbula". - Other projects that will be popping up throughout the year will be mentioned. https://www.elmira.es/articulo/jere...ocial&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1676652534-1
