A few more from RSPB Frampton Marsh today before my return to work tomorrow:

    Birds:
    152. Pied Avocet - Recurvirostra avosetta
    153. Spotted Redshank - Tringa erythropus
    154. Eurasian Skylark - Alauda arvensis
    155. Long-billed Dowitcher - Limnodromus scolopaceus
    156. Merlin - Falco columbarius

    (UK: 134)

The dowitcher is, as far as anyone can tell, the same one I saw only a few yards away in November last year, which is clearly taking the description 'long-staying vagrant' very seriously indeed, as it has been seen on the same site most days since October.

    :)

A note for any USA listers in the area, apparently there is a Harp Seal in the Hudson River at Albany, New York.

On a bright sunny afternoon last week I saw a little brown shape across the top of the snow along a beach just east of Utqiagvik. I had a free moment, but as it was still a little early for Seals or Seabirds I didn’t grab my camera. I watched the little creature run closer and got a real good look at his distinct shape and coloring as he ran past. Too late, I thought to take an iPhone video of his (maybe her) progress as it ran, but I did snap an iPhone photo with predictable results. You’ll have to take my word for it but...I give you the North American Brown Lemming.

I think that’s Mammal six for the year. My second rodent and the creature that enables the Arctic and Red Foxes spotted in January to survive their winters here in the Arctic.

    6. North American Brown Lemming - Lemmus Trimucronatus

And that's the last for my trip with nothing new the last couple of days. I'm really not good at birding by myself.

I just saw a bird of prey and I'm like 99% sure it was a (12.) white-tailed kite (Elanus leucurus).

I went to go check on the aforementioned Great Horned Owl nest today. I'm not the only one who has seen it, other birders have checked in on it, on apparently there are two owlets (I didn't see them). Anyway, I get out of the car, about t walk to the owl to the owl nest, and I hear this:

    "Who-cooks-for-you? Who-cooks-for-youall?"

A Barred Owl. I immediately start thinking about that species instead. I see some other birders, who tell me that they had seen the Barred Owl nearby and told me where it was. So I get over there and, no luck. Only Great Horned for me today.

So all I added today was this:

    Birds
    55. Song Sparrow Melospiza melodia
