I was planning on addressing this.

For the timebeing the challenge is indeed on hold. Though I doubt any zoos are open, any miscellaneous mammals seen during this period and posted won’t be counted for fairness sake. These can be added once most zoos are back up and running and it’s not as frowned upon for people to be leaving their homes.

Thanks in advance for going along with this!

    PSA:

@lintworm posting has reminded me. As a lot of zoos are beginning to reopen the challenge is back on, for now. If places are forced to close down again due to a second wave of infection then it will once again be put back on hold.

To all UK entrants (myself included), unfortunately the UK has yet to officially reopen zoos so it will be hard for us to join in for a while longer, but as this is a Europe wide challenge and other zoos around Europe are reopening I think that this is only fair.

If zoos aren't allowed to open indoor areas then it's going to be relatively slow going in the UK once they re-open anyway. I know the stuff I need at Birmingham (for example) is mostly in the nocturnal house. Hamerton would still be worth a visit though, most of their miscellaneous stuff is outside, but I think that may be the exception.

We really don't know if this will be the case... If the Government definition remains simply 'ticketed attractions', and all remain lumped together, without ANY differentiation - then most of these are indoors - play-barns, cinemas, theaters, aquariums, museums etc. If zoos in the UK have to wait until all of these are open too, rather than opening as controlled outdoor areas (as appears to be happening in every other country world-wide) - then maybe indoor areas will be open too...

Although people from the continent have been adding stuff already as their zoos have reopened, as of today the challenge is officially back for EVERYONE in Europe!!

Look forward to some new entries from the UK soon :)

Annoyingly, I doubt I'll be able to get anything new soon... Not until Axe Valley opens at least... or until I get the chance to visit Escot for their Red Squirrel. Looks like I'll be relying on visits in September and October to boost my tally.

I'm in the same place , I don't know when I'll get the chance to add anything. I have nearly all the outdoor species I can get and it will be at least 2-3 months before indoor houses are allowed to open again. I have tickets for 3 zoos in 10 days, which potentially could add a maximum of just 1 species!

    Those pesky rules ;)

Side note: I’ve just realised that only one of the three cloud rats kept in Europe will be eligible, as the other two are entirely offshow! Thankfully this isn’t the case for a fair few of your species there in that list

What is the current status of the "Japanese" Squirrels in Best? I heard they may be a misidentified type of Red Squirrel from Japan instead of true Japanese Squirrels. Are they countable?
