    The status of the Thallomys species is quite unclear but the curator is leaning towards them being loringi...

    They are for some time already, placed in the aviary next to the marmoset house.

    I think they were labelled cilicicus, I doubt I'll get another species though. The reason they were just labelled spiny mouse is probably because that species isn't African!

    Indeed - the Turkish spiny mouse...thanks! Curious as to why they haven’t tried for an African species of spiny mouse as there definitely are some out there in European zoos.

    It’s always good to note which species anyway, as there are a lot of smaller zoos with Arabian spiny mice, not Turkish :)

    45. Finlayson's Squirrel (Finally) - the zoo seem to hold a pair.

    According to another Zoochatter (@FBBird ) Rock Hyrax have been added to the collection since my last visit.. subspecies is yet to be reported :)

    With C. tschudii in Schönebeck turning out to be C. aperea, I was on 96 before I headed to France. Out of the roughly 30 zoos visited, only a few had additions for this challenge.

    As if this wasn't pointless enough trying to compete from the UK, a few areas were closed today which limited me to

    Where did you see the flying fox? I was under the assumption that they were off show (due to covid) inside the tropical house? I was able too see the other 4 bat species held at the collection.
