Unfortunately this will remain my final list for this challenge. Because of the new lockdown all zoos in the Netherlands have closed again, so my plans for a december zoo visit had to be cancelled.

I missed the babirusas, sadly, but I made it to 100!

Beautiful visit of Prague Zoo during Christmas day. I have scored one species. It is so nice to reach such a goal in December at my home zoo.

78/ Pseudois nayaur szechuanensis - Chinese Blue Sheep (nahur modrý)

Very nice visit. But we had a snow and animals were not quite active. It seemed I will end up with only one target species but finally I scored all 4 new species I could see during winter visit.

79/ Axis axis - Chital (axis indický)
80/ Elaphurus davidianus - Pere David's Deer (jelen milu)
81/ Antilope cervicapra - Blackbuck (antilopa jelení)
82/ Hyelaphus porcinus - Hog Deer (jelínek vepří)

And one forgotten species, Przewalski's Wild Horse. The species is kept outside the area of Prague Zoo but I managed to see them during April of 2021.

83/ Equus ferus przewalskii - Przewalski's Wild Horse (kůň Převalského)

What I know, it should be 105 species. I could miss some domestic animals as I skip them most of the time and I always forget they count in the challenge in specific cases.

Congratulations to our big winner @twilighter - who took the challenge extremely seriously and aimed to actively see every taxon on the list.

The Zoochat Europe Challenge 2022 thread will be up at some point later today, so keep your eyes peeled…

Thank you @ShonenJake13 for hosting this challenge! I'm very happy with my result. Congratulations to the winner!

I just checked: You can draw a circle on th map with a radius of 83 km that encompasses al the species I've seen. The maximum possible within this circle would be 108 if I counted correctly. The additional ticks compared to my result would be balabac kantjil (no luck spotting it in ABH), white-bearded-wildebeest (arrived at Tierpark after my last visit), impala (no-show at Magdeburg), Thomson's gazelle (no-show at Leipzig), West Caucasian tur (Halle), Alpine ibex (Köthen) and european roe deer (Herzberg). For Cottbus (Baird's tapir and domestic yak) and Fürstenwalde (Alpine chamois) the circle would have to be extended slightly

Thanks @ShonenJake13, I enjoyed taking part, even though my only realistic target was top UK competitor!
I missed just 5 by my reckoning
    Kiang
    Dromedary
    White tailed Gnu
    Russian Sika Deer
Sambar deer (reckon I did see them at Port Lympne but too far away to be sure).

    Congratulations @twilighter!

Thank you all kindly for the greetings and special thanks to @ShonenJake13! I enjoyed your company very much! Started this challenge with a thought to see some of the species I'm missing, but it ended up bit more than that. Decided to skip the American Moose and to prioritize the resources to fulfill the IUCN species list. @Penshet got this one, which means, together we covered all the available taxa this year. I need to get it soon. Between Europe and USA I also miss the Bay Duiker, Bushbuck and the Central American Red Brocket (species on display at a public collections), but hope I will fill those gaps in the future. Wish you a great year and many zoo visits ahead :)
