Sorry to go back to this, but the amazons in cage 1 behind the Guinea pigs are Lilac Crowned. The red lored have not been on show all year.

 

I see. Well, when all is said and done, I think I'm pretty much done with my parrot sightings for zoos this year, so I think that's it for me anyway.

Not been a very successful year for parrots! Out of curiosity, where is everyone seeing all these parrots at London!? I could only see one species signposted in the Blackburn Pavillion!

 

Cockatoos are opposite the llamas iirc, grey parrots are near the lions, Goldie's lorikeets and Purple-naped lories inside Blackburn (lories are isolated in the entrance area) Mitchell's lorikeets are in the leftmost outdoor aviary outside Blackburn. Burrowing parrots are in the farm area. Green winged and Hyacinth macaws are in the macaw aviaries where you saw the other macaws. That should be it.

 

ah thank you. Gonna look back through my photos for the Grey’s as vaguely recall seeing them! I think the other macaws were defo indoors. Makes sense I missed the Mitchell’s as the left aviaries were cordoned off outside for construction works the day I visited. Defo didn’t see the lories though!

Congratulations to @amur leopard for winning the 2022 Europe challenge!


Now for an update. I am retiring from challenge moderating duties, so this year was my last year running the Europe challenge. But fret not, as I have a worthy replacement in the wings…my long time friend (and challenge participant) @MagpieGoose will be taking over from me his idea for 2023 is a good one that I can definitely see getting a lot of decent scores from both members of the UK and the rest of Europe too!
Naturally I’ll still be partaking in the challenge, although maybe not as dedicated as previous years…but who knows.

Thanks to everyone who has participated these last few years for being such great sports. See you guys out there in the zoo world!
