    Mid-year Totals!

Right then, now that we're essentially halfway through the year and everyone's pretty much updated, here we are!

    1. ThylacineAlive with 410 species
    2. geomorph with 214 species
    3. d1am0ndback with 195 species
    4. jayjds2 with 150 species
    5. birdsandbats with 126 species
    6. NSU42 with 107 species
    7. TheWalrus with 62 species
    8. pachyderm pro with 43 species

I will not do mid-year subtotal totals, because most people's are off a bit  but I've been guilty of that myself too!

Why do your subtotals never match your score?

    A brief touch on taxonomy:

As some of you know, the black forest cobra Naja melanoleuca has recently been split into 5 species. Reptile Database hasn't said anything about the split yet, but I am choosing to accept and follow it here. However, you will not be penalized for not knowing which of the five species you may have seen: if it's an unknown individual, then you may count it as melanoleuca. This way, everyone only adds species, not loses. I also have some corrections to make in the following post.
    Three errors:
-I accidentally counted beaded lizard a second time here. As such, my total at this point was actually 174.
-the scientific name for #152 is C. porteri
-the "African forest cobra" is Naja subfulva.
