Thanks, Jayjds2! I was going to ask about the Forest Cobra split since I went to Philadelphia on Monday but I just didn't get around to it yet. Also if I got this straight "Momma" is the C. porteri and "Little Lady" ( I think that's her name) is a hybrid between 2 "sub"species. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I hadn't heard of Philly holding a hybrid giant tortoise. It had always been that the adults were porteri and the newly exhibited juveniles (in Bird Alley) are microphyes.

He knows Philadelphia's and Kentucky Reptile Zoo's because the former is a South African import and the latter identified their split species already. Afaik, all others are still up in the air.

As Thylo said: Philadelphia lists theirs on their website as coming from South Africa. KRZ posted on their Facebook page about their cobras, with the scientific name Naja guineensis. I’ve had less luck with other collections holding the species: Staten Island’s came from another zoo, Houston’s is a mystery, and Ellen Trout’s was given to them after the death of its owner.

Do you mean to tell me I have less than a month to see 117 more species to break even?

Yes but @jayjds2 only has to see 19 more to beat me and I that he a) hasn't updated his list yet, and b) has one more trip before the end of the year that will put him over the top I think.

Just curious, did you only visit this collection because of my visit from earlier in the year?

Also, what did you think of this facility?

No, I visited the facility because I was in the area and due to a time hiccup I was able to walk down to Laclede's Landing where it is located and visit to see how bad it really was. I was unsurprised to find that the place really was in shambles. The owner paid me in change out of his own pocket, asked me to not take photos of construction (when in reality I was just photographing a fish), clarified before allowing me to pay that it was a CHILDREN's aquarium (perhaps my being over six feet tall put him off a bit) and in general had a rude demeanor. I was disappointed that they offered to take out any animal for me to hold and see, and I can't imagine how stressful that was for the number of pet-shop-like animals and display racks they have when the aquarium is busier. I was the only visitor at that time and I was glad to walk away after less than an hour.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to see something other than crocodillians, lizards, snakes, or chledonians!
