The category definition of herps does not currently include cephalopods, mollusks, and the like. The last post explaining definitions says unaquatic invertebrates under herps. If that is incorrect, and it includes all invertebrates, I would suggest making that more obvious so people don't get confused.

My apologies, that category includes all invertebrates, excluding those from freshawater.

I don't want to derail this thread, but I also don't want to create a new one. But I've been playing with a thought in my head for a while now, so I just want to see if there would even be any interest in it.

It would be similar to these Zoo cups, but would be about animals and not zoos. I'm not sure if catagories would be a good idea for this, but they could be about success in captivity, or more physical attributes(like beauty, intelligence etc.), or it could just be on personal preference, with people voting for their favorite animal between the two.

There's a lot of flaws and specifics that would need to be worked out, but would you guys even be interested in doing this?

I've had an thought like that, but instead of the animal, it was the exhibit the animal was in.

I think you can vote based on the exhibit of the animal in that category.

I meant like, e.g: Cincinnati Zoo's Jungle Trails vs Columbus Zoo's Congo Expedition. Bonobo Exhibits.

To my knowledge someone's already working on that and has been for some months.

I can testify that this statement is true, and they have it very well prepared. Let's only worry about one cup at a time.

My apologies to everyone, but the cup will be placed on hiatus for about two weeks, as me and my family are on an emergency trip for a family member. I may have no time to even check ZooChat. If I have time, I may put up a poll.

Ok, after a few events, I came up with a proposal to everyone about the categories. If 3 or more people reply to me and say that the two saltwater categories should be one broad saltwater category, and if 3 or more say that marine mammals and seabirds should be grouped together (I personally don't think that this is too important but it's been a big thing on the thread), than I will group the 4 categories into two, causing a reform of the categories. Here's the thing, you can choose either one or both of them (be specific for what grouping you want done), and this will end in 24 hours, 10:05 PM August 26 EST.

One person that messaged me has voted for both of them, so that is 2 more for each one!

I've also got another person vote for both. The two that have voted so far for both are @squirrelmonkey and @BigNate .

Ok, so we only got 2, not three, but after thinking about it and how I've ignored some people saying that the categories were too specific, I will do this: Tropical Saltwater, Other Saltwater and Sharks and Rays will now be Saltwater. The freshwater rays in the Sharks and Rays category are now part of the Freshwater species category.
