Sessions (visits) by Language - last 12 months China again the big mover! I think there is likely some operating system or browser changes which have seen more specific languages (such as en-au and en-ca) show up more recently - whereas previously they were probably under en or en-us or something else.
Sessions (visits) by Operating System - last 12 months compared to previous 12 months Windows is dropping. iOS is gaining Android is gaining MacOS is steady People still use Windows Phone? ChromeOS is still a novelty Linux is still too hard
Sessions (visits) by Screen Resolution - last 12 months Nobody has high res screens! 360x640, 375x667 and 320x568 are all phone resolutions
Sessions (visits) by device type - last 12 months ... and compared to previous 12 months. This fits with patterns I'm seeing on my other sites - desktop is dropping quickly and being replace by mobile. Tablet is also dropping as mobile devices become more powerful and so people don't need tablets as much. Interestingly, these stats don't show anywhere near as much mobile penetration as I get on most of my other sites - which is possibly down to 3 factors: 1) the international nature of the site (powerful mobile phones and internet access is expensive in some areas?), 2) the demographics (some of my other sites have a high number of office workers who spend a lot of time commuting on public transport and that's when they view the site), and 3) We've only had a mobile-friendly site for just over 6 months now (that would be the main differentiator I think). On my largest site, mobile phones now account for the majority of site visits. Anyway, I think the stats over the next 12 months will be very telling now that we have a mobile friendly site ... I expect these stats to show mobile usage much closer to that of desktop usage as more people view the site from a phone. I guess I could try and break down the usage by region to see who is using what!?
Sessions by device type by location - last 12 months So 48% of visits from the UK and AU used desktops, while 51% from the US and 63% from everywhere else used desktops! Note that "Other Countries" makes up 31% of our total visits ... so that would explain the relatively high desktop usage overall. Tablets are far more popular in the UK, while mobile penetration seems highest in Australia. Actually, I should try looking at these stats from just since we launched the new site.
Sessions by device type by location - since 1 Nov 2016 That's starting to look a bit more like it ... UK mobile usage up to nearly 41% since November at the expense of both Desktop and Tablet usage. Interestingly US desktop usage has actually increased at the expense of mobile usage. I can't really explain that. What don't we look at it more recently?
Sessions by device type by location - last 30 days Now we're getting somewhere. UK mobile usage up over 41%, US usage up to 39% AU usage is all over the place - but I think that's possibly impacted by the small sample size - UK is 33.5% of sessions, US is 31.5% of sessions, "other" is 30.5% of sessions and AU is only 4.5% of sessions.
Sessions by browser by location - last 30 days UK is 33.5% of sessions; US is 31.5% of sessions, everywhere else is 35% of sessions. So people outside of the US and UK much prefer Chrome. Safari is almost as popular as Chrome in US and UK but nowhere near as popular everywhere else. People in the US really need to stop using Internet Explorer. Some people in the UK actually think Edge is worth using. Firefox still has a lot of holdouts outside the US and UK.
Sessions by mobile device - last 30 days Android segmentation makes it look like iPhone/iPad has no traction. Galaxy S7 looks popular. I have an S6. By device branding By Operating System By Operating System by location Like I thought ... US people love their iPhones ... UK people are a bit more balanced ... the rest of the world aren't Apple fanboi's and love their cheap(er) Android devices.
