    Dear all,

Zoohistorica was created in 1990 by a group of European collectors of zoo literature and memorabilia. It is an annual meeting that brings together collectors of such documents from all over Europe. It takes place usually the first weekend of September in a large European zoo. The festivities begin Friday evening with an ice breaker where all may see again friends and exchange all the news about zoos. An exchange fair of zoo literature and memorabilia takes place on Saturday morning, then followed by a guided tour of the zoo where Zoohistorica is hold. Sunday is devoted to the visit of a second zoological collection of the surroundings.

The 20th International meeting of collectors of zoo literature and memorabilia will be held on the last weekend of August 2009 at the Parc Zoologique et Botanique de Mulhouse (France). It will be the first time this event takes place at a French zoo! In addition, Zoohistorica 2009 will be the twentieth since the first meeting at Hanover Zoo in Germany in 1990.

Due to technical reasons, the meeting will not be held in Amnéville as originally planned, but we will be hosted in Mulhouse in southern Alsace.

Reserve now the 28th, 29th and 30th August 2009 in your planner and register through the form found below! A draft program of the meeting is also available in this circular.

The city of Mulhouse has plenty of hotels. All information is available in three languages at Tourisme Alsace – l alsace autrement – musées – zoo – hotel - séjour - informations et actualité - Mulhouse. Do not delay to book your nights!

All information related to Zoohistorica 2009 will also be available online at Zoohistorica. Don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected] if you have any question.

On Sunday 30th August we will meet again in Basel Zoo (Switzerland). A guided tour in English and in German will be offered at 14:00 (until 15:30 approximately). Upon presentation of their badges, participants to Zoohistorica would have free entrance to the zoo during that day (Basel Zoo is open from 8:00 to 18:30). The Tierpark Lange Erlen, located four kilometers from Basel Zoo, also offers an interesting opportunity for a visit! It is open daily from 7:00 to 18:00.
