    Yes, there are grey areas here (as there are on the deer, he he!). In the case of Wapiti, they are often crossed with Red Deer too, leading to possible scenarios of 'when does a red deer become a wapiti' etc.

    Due to disease risk, all animals that are taken off zoo grounds in the US (ie "educational") must be maintained seperate from the rest of the collection and have their own keepers. Kind of a semi-quarantine situation. But this isnt any law, but a mandate from the AZA.
