    Hello!

I am brand new to these boards, but had a 'burning question' to ask....

I've been trying to find what zoos in the USA have African Wildcats, but have only noted New Orleans (maybe?), and one in California.....can anyone help?

    THANK YOU!!!
    :D

    Well welcome to ZooChat!!

I know Cincinnati once held the species (until recently I think) but I don't think they are displayed anymore. PM my friend Moebelle, he can give you much more info. on Cincy's African Wildcats.

No, the zoo has never held them and nor is the species in captivity anymore.

Oh yes, you are correct. I just rechecked the source I saw the picture of three wildcats at Cincy on and it turns out the pic was from Brimingham. My bad.

Birmingham's are black footed cats which several zoos have.

of course it is. A number of zoos around the world hold African wildcats, and even in the US it is kept at (for example) the Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species in New Orleans, and also by private pet keepers. It doesn't take more than a couple of minutes on Google to find that out....

Saw two of them myself at Howletts last year, in point of fact!
