Zuri was born in 2002 and came to Hamilton Zoo from Cango Wildlife Ranch in July 2003 with males Hasani and Rafiki. Her first litter was born in May 2004 (two males, seven females) named Moja, Mbili, Tatu, Nne, Tano, Sita, Sabba, Nane and Tisa. The females have left for Orana Park Zoo in 2007.
Zuri has had other litters including a male pup Zumo who is now the dominant male along with new female Mawenzi.
Zuri has since left for Western Plains Zoo where she is the dominant female in a new pack of three. In May 2009 she produced a litter of four pups which are doing well.
