Morelet's Crocodile

Gator Alley- Morelet's Crocodile. July 9, 2013. As if these exhibits already weren't small enough, the aquarium now has two Morelet's Crocodiles sharing this tiny terrarium.

They seriously need to take all of them out and replace them with newborns at least.

I'm vvisiting Monday so I will see if these now medium sized crocodilians are still in tanks that were built for small turtles. And if things changed enough since March, I might even make a new, full species list.

Try to find out what cichlids are in the first enclosure at the aquarium if you can, thanks!

I think I remember pm'ing you them awhile back, but I think I had problems with my phone at the time and it may not have sent. The circular tank contains Mbuna Cichlids, Chambo Cichlids, and possibly Kamongo Lungfish.

Thylo, since Mighty Mike was gone during your visit, was the Nile crocodile in his exhibit.

I got a pm simply saying African cichlids. I didn't see a lungfish, what's the scientific name for the Kamongo Lungfish anyway?

Yes, the Nile Crocodile was back in the large enclosure.

Honestly I can't even find any info on the fish itself. I typed down Kamongo in my 'list of animals' thread but I had never even looked up to see what it is. If you type it into Google you get...

I made a mistake Thylo. The supposed "Kamongo" is a spelling error on my part. What I meant to put down was "Kampango" (Bagrus meridionalis), which is a species of catfish, not a lungfish.
