Is that a purposeful mixture or a wild break-in? And what species is that?

I've been holding myself back on posting on your photos as I've been exploding with jealousy but I must post here! And to think I was all exciting earlier today when I saw a Florida Manatee, and then I saw your São Paulo Aquariums photos.....:p

The capybara is with a yacare caiman. Oceanboy had also posted this exhibit. It seems risky.

A certain UK collection, known for 'unusual' mixed exhibits, might take inspiration from this....

lol Don't be surprised! He'll probably add the two species to the Andean Bear enclosure as well!

I suppose if the caiman is kept well-fed it's not going to bother with the exertion of subduing something live and kicking. But it's a very finely calculated risk!

I have a question. Does the Capybara actually go in the water?

He did have capybara in there......note my emphasis.

It is a bit of a risky mix but it is worth mentioning that these species are found side by side in the wild wherever they occur.
